HISTORY
Dr. Kirstein started her medical practice
in West Jordan in 1981 at the Holy Cross Hospital owned clinic.
In 1982 she started her independent practice near 2700 West
and 90th South. Dr. Kirstein formally created Jordan Valley
Family Health in 1984 when she built a small office building
directly north of the newly built Jordan Valley Hospital and
invited Nurse Practitioner, Michelle King, to join her.
By
1994 the practice had easily outgrown the former location, so
we relocated to our current space. Since that time the medical
staff grew to 5 family doctors, 4 pediatricians, 5 family nurse
practitioners and 1 physician assistant. In 2002 the changes
in healthcare economics required us to down size to our current
5 family doctors, 3 family nurse practitioners and 1 physician.
Our patients come from far and wide, traveling from southwest
Wyoming, eastern Nevada and throughout Utah to receive care
at our clinic.
PHILOSOPHY
We believe that educating you about your body and its ailments
allows for you and your health care provider to work more closely
as a team to reach healthier outcomes. We limit the number of
patients seen per day so that we can spend the quality time
necessary with each patient to really listen to and consider
each of their concerns. Family Practice focuses on the family
unit and the importance that each family member has in the healing
process of a family member.
AWARDS
The proof
in our philosophy.
In
2003 Jordan Valley Family Health was awarded a citation for
outstanding clinical management of diabetic patients by Intermountain
Health Care. This was the first year IHC included contracted
independent clinics.
In
2004 Intermountain Health Care awarded Jordan Valley Family
Health three quality care citations for, diabetic management,
breast cancer screening [mammography] and colorectal cancer
screening (colonoscopies). Jordan Valley Family Health was the
only clinic to receive three citations in one year, including
both IHC owned and contracted independent clinics, such as JVFH.
